cisco 4506 boot Problem

Hi,

I got a Problem with cisco 4506 switch booting..

it is going to ROMMON mode while restarting the device but in ROMMON mode , if i give the BOOT command , it is booting well and remaining things are fine.

Configuration register is 0x2102  now and  Boot system is configured from Flash..

I just worrried  that , if it gets down when man resources are not availble , then it would be a problem as it needs a manual intervention to assign boot command from ROMMON mode

pls help on this

Regards

You may have an improperly set bootvar from an upgrade?  You can check it with the following:

Switch#dir bootflash:
Directory of bootflash:/

    1  -rw-     6516904   Aug 13 2000 13:37:13  cat4000-is-mz.121-11b.EW

61341696 bytes total (54824664 bytes free)

Switch#show bootvar
BOOT variable = bootflash:cat4000-is-mz.121-8a.Ew,1
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
BOOTLDR variable does not exist
Configuration register is 0x2102

They don't match so change it with the following replacing with your  code values:

Switch#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
Switch(config)#no boot system flash bootflash:cat4000-is-mz.121-8a.Ew
Switch(config)#boot system flash bootflash:cat4000-is-mz.121-11b.EW
Switch(config)#end
Switch#write memory
Building configuration...
Compressed configuration from 4359 bytes to 1730 bytes[OK]

Then verify it was written with the following:

Switch#show bootvar
BOOT variable = bootflash:cat4000-is-mz.121-11b.EW,1
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
BOOTLDR variable does not exist
Configuration register is 0x2102
