Windows Update Error Codes 8024400E & 8024408

These codes have been network wide on computers running xp and 7. They are all connected to a windows 2003 smb server not using WSUS. I have tried safe mode, disabling the firewall, logging onto the local computer instead of domain, and repairing the windows update services.

I've rebooted the firewall and server still no change. The server can download and install updates but none of the clients can.

I know for a fact that it has to do with being on the domain. I recently put in a new computer there and it was able to get updates before being on the domain but as soon as I did put it on it was no longer able to get them and gave the same error codes as the rest of them.

I went into the DC and the WSUS options in the GPO editor were not configured but I set them to disabled and all was well again.

Simply put that is what allowed the computer on the domain to once again get updates on their own.
