Could it be that laptops feature some sort of biometrics like a fingerprint scanner? If yes, it could be a fingerprint software that needs initialization each ctrl-alt-del. For a test, uninstall that software and restart.

Sorry for the delayed response, changing the MTU size worked like a charm. The laptops now log in straight away every time.

We are currently in the middle of a Windows 7 migration, and we've encountered a strange issue with some of our laptops. When you press control-alt-delete there can be a lag, sometimes small (5-10 seconds) sometimes large (20-30 seconds). Any ideas what might be causing this?<br />
