database access groups

I want to setup DAG across the wan. I read one place I need enterprise  exchange. I read another place that I only need standard exchange and enterprise windows.

If I use a load balancer can I use the standard version of exchange and windows and do it like that? Because I really hate windows clustering. Or do I use the enterprise version of windows and skip the load balancer?

When I setup the DAG do I simply test it by connecting to the replicated database and see if the mail is coming in?

To setup DAG, you need th use Enterrpise Windows but you can use standard DAG. Load balancers have nothing to do with the version of Exchange or Windows. You will need a load balancer for the CAS array.

You would test DAG by moving the active database to another DAG node and ensuring clients can still access their mailbox.
