# SUMIF EXCEL 2010

If I have a column with a date in it and a column with a number, how do I format my equation to sumif the date =8-1-2012??

If the dates were in the range C2:C10 and the numbers in D2:10 then:

=SUMIF(C2:C10,DATE(2012,8,1),D2:D10)

Cool!!

Can I use a cell as the date??  So if in a1 I type 8-1-2012 it sould show the data for that date, then if I change the date it would update??

Yes, you can just replace the DATE part of tdlewis' suggested formula with the cell reference, e.g.

=SUMIF(C2:C10,A1,D2:D10)
