MS Outlook hangs trying to print, then can't open Word.

This issue is killing me.  First it was 2 or 3 computers in the Elementary School.  Then a couple more.  Then three just today!

I have searched MS forums, etc., and I have tried probably a dozen "fixes" and nothing works permanently.    It's almost like a MS update broke Office. I have noticed that, so far, it is ONLY on computers with local printers.  It has not happened with networked printers. I have tried the following:
Uninstall/Reinstall Office 207
Upgrade to 2010
Uninstall/Reinstall printer
Update printer driver
Repair Office
Delete User Profile
All Registry changes I could find online

If I unplug the printer and restart, everything is happy.  If I plug the printer back in after restart, it will be happy for 2, 3 days, maybe 5 or 6 weeks or more.  Then it happens again.  I have seen some information regarding a corrupt or missing outlkprt file (or something similar).  I have seen that that file is missing on some of those computers. BUT...It is also missing from MY computer, and I have NO problems printing from Outlook to a local printer.

I am without clue.  Anybody?

I am guessing you mean outlprnt when you say outlkprt? (

Try removing the printer driver (not just the printer) entirely and then installing again

Also, are there any entries in the event log (application and/or system)?

Exactly, that file.  I will try that.  No entries in event log, it's the weirdest thing I've come across.
