I didn't have the software installed and wasn't able to see where to running the cleaning tool. So I manually cleaned this with a cotton swab. &nbsp;Works great now. &nbsp;I can't believe I didn't think of this before posting the question. I must be getting old. &nbsp;Thanks for the quick help.

I have a HP Deskjet D1660 (USB connection to an XP Pro computer). The HP Printer has both Color and Black Cartridges, but I only need to print in black ink. &nbsp; &nbsp;When I try to print something the first letter on each line doesn't print properly (it is faded).. I adjusted the properties of the printer for black ink only, reset the margins and replaced the cartridge. &nbsp;But I still get the same result? &nbsp;Any ideas?
