I have a site that Firefox access fine if I use http://mysite.com but if I put http://www.mysite.com I get a blank white screen.  Chrome and Safari access it fine with or without the www.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for your help.

The most important thing is whether you host the site by yourself on your own server, or where else?

Yes.  Putting in www.mysite.com and then Ctrl + Enter brought up the site.  And now just putting in www.mysite.com  and Enter works, which didn't before.

So what's going on?

The site is being hosted at a hosting provider (Hostway).
