Server 2012 User CAL's

Hi There,

My question is a pretty simple one, but i just need to make a 100% sure on it. For Server 2012 how many user CAL's must i purchase for 45 Users with pc's. The obvious answer is 45 user CAL's but i just want to make absolutely sure. And how is it loaded on Server 2012?

CALs are an honor system, they are not installed.  Each HUMAN BEING who will use the server requires a CAL.  It doesn't matter if you have 45 users and only 15 connect at any one time, you need 45 CALs, one for each HUMAN BEING.  It doesn't matter if you only create 15 user accounts to be shared amongst the 45 users, you need 45 CALs one for each HUMAN BEING.

It's POSSIBLE to license by device instead, but it's USUALLY not an appropriate licensing method since ALL devices used by that user - home machines via remote access, iPads, cell phones, etc, that may interact with the server would need a device CAL.
