Mapping network drive disconnecct after logoff

i m taking backp from various computer, i installed backup utility software in the backup server and I mapped as network driver for others computers files in the backup server, if i logoff backup server network driver will be disconnected, is there any method that network drive should not disconnect after the logoff. windows server 2003

    Make the drive mapping persistent - start run cmd (return)

    net use (driveletter) (resourcename) /persistent:yes

    can you use unc path in backup program example. \\server\share or \\server\c$
    if you use unc you dont need map drive
