I have succesfully setup the Exchange mail in my andriod phone. Is it possible to disable the email synchronization and only allow contact to synchronize ? I can't see any option in the phone that could disable the email synchronization.

So much depends on the version of Android, and the modifications made by the manufacturer. In CyanogenMod 10 running on a Samsung Galaxy SIII, for example, if I go in to the "Corporate" (Exchange) account, and click the top, it shows a page allowing me to turn sync off/on for each of Calendar, Contacts, or Email. What phone/software version are you running? It should be eminently possible to locate screenshots of that settings page.
