granting standard user account admin ablities

We have a handful of MACs in our environment. The people we had who knew anything about  them have left IT. My question is how do I grant a standard user the ability to update his/her own software? I know nothing about macs and I had hoped to stay that way. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

You cannot. The user must be an admin user or at least know an admin username and password to input during the installation.
You will need to login into the Mac as what ever user you have set as an admin. Then you will need to click on System Pref's > Accounts. Once in Accounts check the bottom left corner and press the Lock icon if it is locked. Enter your password you used to login.

Select the user you wish to grant admin rights to. On the right hand side you will have to select the user to have admin rights to the machine to install the Software

Hope that helps

@dan4132 Thanks I will try this once the user gets in and let you know how it went.
