Live Security Platinum

I have a client running Windows 7 Pro with McAfee Total Protection installed. Typical standalone with Office Pro and Quickbooks 2011. The system has become contaminated with a program called "Live Security Platinum" which appears to be a fake alert type of program. It also appears that McAfee had expired for a couple of days, a few days ago - which is probably what happened. Any ideas on how to remove this fake alert software? The add/remove doesn't do anything and the software just runs every few minutes, listing a million infections it says are present. Thanks!
