How to create custom prerequisite (Bootstrapper package) for VS2008

Hi experts
I am trying to create a bootstrapper package of a USB device driver so that I can include the package as a prerequisite into my installer (I am using VS2008).

I use a program called the 'BMG' to generate the bootstrapper package.

The problem I have is this USB device driver comes in two files (.inf and .cat). They work fine as long as a user plugs the USB cable into a PC, and the Windows will automatically ask the user to locate the files.

But the scenario is if I want to get my installer to install the USB device driver (prior to installing an application program), I don't know how to do tell the bootstrapper as there isn't any .exe or .msi.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

You need
Windows installer 4.5,
.Net Framework 3.5 or greater,
 Power shell not recommended.

Sorry Tushar but I am still not sure how to do it.

it is because the bootstrapper package needs to know the name of an executable file in order to install the driver. In my case I have got .inf and .cat files.

BTW, I'd tried 'run32dll.exe' on the '.inf' file in a command window and the driver still didn't installed properly.
