On the left click on Connection then on the right pane, double click Automatic Browser Configuration. Select the Enable Automatic Configuration check box. Then put the address of your pac file in the Auto-proxy URL (.wpad, or .pac file) box. Also tick the Atuomatically detect configuration settings check box.

I missed the first part didn't know if you needed it or not...

Local Computer Policy -> User Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Internet Explorer Maintenance -> Connection.

Ok, so I need to download this kit per version of IE? Where? Wheni I check,  I end up on IEAK, but IEAK seems not to be GPO related.
Note: there is no general for all IE?

I appear to have it on my computer and I didn't download anything specifically (not sure if it was bundled with something else I've installed). Have you checked to see if it's there? I have it on windows XP and a colleage has it on windows 7. Microsoft site makes it sound like it's something you have to download but I think its misleading.

Just Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc then look under user configuration/windows settings

yes thats the group policy setting on a computer in which you can set and export to a ins file or create templates. Judging by your last comment you must be using Group Policy Management Console or some other gpo management. Unfortunately I don't have access to this anymore from my machine so I can not guide you on that. But the stucture should still be the same ('User Configuration' -> 'Windows Settings' -> 'Internet Explorer Maintenance' -> 'Connection')

Yes that's right.

I agree Microsoft's 'terms' are confusing I thought it was an add-on too but now I guess not.
