SMTP connection limit

We send out a blast of 200+ emails every so often and always get back delayed or about 30 bounceback emails from internal and external emails. If we resend the ones that NDR it will go through. Is there a max per email connection limit? Is there a throttling limit?

Is that a DL you send email or add 200+ users manually ?
Is there some attachments ?
Check what is the recipient limit per email set on the Connectors and Global .... do you have any Firewall or Router if so what is the value there ?

You need to check with your ISP as they would have set a limit on SMTP Sending Limit and Email Rate Limits.

It is not a DL but sent through the AS400 using the Exchange Relays. It is sent individually by the system and it does send w/PDF attachment. We recently changed the AS400 to point the relays to our Exchange 2010 so before it didn't have this problem. There shouldn't be router/firewall problem since it goes through but just a small percentage gets NDR and is successful when resent manually.

It is not an ISP problem it recently occurred when we switched our AS400 pointing from Exchange 2003 to the Exchange 2010 to relay emails.

For 200 users I would just outsource it. That number of users can be outsourced for free and you then don't have to worry about Exchange and its poor bulk emailing performance.

Here is the NDR received. We didn't have a problem before w/Exchange 2003.

Can you verify the email address as just want to make sure its correct format as what i see in the error i dont see @ sign ?

The NDR is from different email addresses "@yahoo, @gmail, @msn, and our internal users @domain.com".

Were there any other changes made to the App and any events on the App server ?

If the issue started only after you switched from Exchange 2003 to 2010, then this is purely being affected cause of default limits.

Run Get-TransportConfig to view Org-wide default limits and provide feedback.

Also, does Exchange send out emails using DNS or you got a smart host configured in Send Connector?

Sorry for the delayed response but we do use a smarthost. i ran the command and it doesn't show limit amount.

Sorry but this isnt any issues with your server ..... its either the Exchange cannot deliver to the Smarthost which according to me is more unlikely or send to recipient Server
