Why is my InfoPath form on the SharePoint server asking for access to a template?

When I try to open SOME of the existing documents (InfoPath Forms), I get an error saying that the form needs access to a specific template, which is specified as something on my machine. When I try to add new documents the Document Library, they don't appear in the list.

InfoPath documents are just XML, and require a template to provide the structure, controls, functions of the form. Each XML file has an embedded link to the template that was used to create the file.

It sounds like you have some documents which were created from someone's local template rather than the one published to SP.

www.qdabra.com has a tool whick will update the links in XML files in bulk, which could be helpful.
