Vista - ATI Radeon 2400XT - Dual monitors will not work

I spent almost 2 hours trying to add a second monitor to a Dell Optiplex 755, with an ATI Radeon 2400 XT video card.  I am connecting an identical monitor to the second port.  (This video card has a white 68? pin connector that I hook a 2-into-1 cable, for a total of 2 DVI ports).

I went though video preferences, and through the Catalyst software and am not able to get two monitors to work.  When I power the system on, I only get the Dell BIOS information on one screen.

I know both screens are good.  I have replaced the 1-to-2 cable.  I have switched the monitors to different ports.  I have installed the latest drivers.....

What am I missing?

Does the catalyst software recognize that there are two monitors?  Is the Dell integrated video disabled?

    Accepted Solution

You are using a DMS-59 port, which splits into two DVI ports - does the card look like this?  Does this card work with one monitor?  If the card doesn't output to two displays and you have the latest video card drivers installed, it probably is broken - it should just plug in and work.  You can try the card on another machine to be sure, or try another card in this machine.

Figured it was broken.  I was just looking for some confirmation.
