Extract value from main excel file

Hello Experts,

I would like to extract the value from the main excel file into another by dates for the below...
Column A  Column B
7-9-12         0
7-9-12          2000
7-9-12          1000
7-9-12           0

another excel file i would like to have this as...
column 1[7 Sep]

Can you please suggest the formulae for this?

    Why dont you create a pivot for this? That would do the trick :-)

    you can use formulas to extract or summarise data in other files. The setup you describe is not clear, though.

    I assume that the first data sample is the source file. You can build a formula in another file along the lines of


    You may need to adjust the date in the formula to your regional settings, or better yet, enter the criterion date into a cell and refer to that cell.

    rather than assign a B grade to a perfectly valid answer, next time you may want to provide some information when experts point you to the fact that your question is not clear.

    Otherwise, with your history of assigning B and C grades, you may soon find that experts won't bother with your questions.

    Remember, even if you don't like what you read, that's not a reason for a B or a C grade, and every grade other than an A requires an explanation. At least, give experts a chance to improve the quality of the answer, especially if they have asked for clarification of the question.
