Paperport - cannot access printing device
Good morning,
we have an XP machine with Paperport 7 on, when you open Paperport for the first time you get a emssage that pops up saying "cannot access printing device" when you click OK papercontinues fine and int he background a message pops up "paper Port Links server encountered a problem and needs to close" hitting OK clears it and closes paperport.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and have confirmed the paperport printer is listed in printers but still no change.
I can nto find a manual removal tool for 7, only 8 and up as I though it may be a legacy item left over.
Any ideas?

Thanks Joe,
Actually these users all have this as a part of their original Xerox package and most are running on XP (100+) and this is the only one with the issue. I know Paperport has never versions and also for many versions seems to have a manual removal tool as well, btu not 7 that I can find anyhow.

Are you saying that the PP7 print driver (PP Image Printer) works in XP? If so, I'll be shocked!
I have the original PP Deluxe 7.0 CD – I'll dig it up and see if it has a manual removal tool on it. If it does, I'll contact the Nuance PP Product Manager to obtain permission to send it to you. Btw, there was a 7.02 version that was released specifically to fix the print driver for W2K. Regards, Joe

I do have them on 7.02.02 now but this was a project about 2 years ago. Bfore that they were on a 7.0 version before the 02 on XP and assure you they were working.
if you can find that it would be great. Let me know what you find
thanks

My opinion is that the PP7 print driver will not work in XP, period. If you want a fully functioning PaperPort in XP (or Vista or W7), my advice is to get PP14. There are two editions – Standard and Professional. You may be see a comparison in the file [Comparison Matrix of PP14 Standard and PP14 Professional.pdf] here:

Since you're coming from PP7, the Std edition should be fine for you. List price is $100 but street price is just $50:
