Unable to refresh PowerPivot data in SharePoint

I am getting the following error when I try to refresh Power Pivot data in SharePoint 2010.

Unable to refresh data for a data connection in the workbook.
Try again or contact your system administrator. The following connections failed to refresh:

PowerPivot Data

This used to work on a different SharePoint server that we have. Is there some settings on SharePoint that need to be adjusted?
Do the PowerPivot files need to be configured on SharePoint for embedded connections (similar to Excel Services files)?

When I refresh this PowerPivot data in Excel it works.

Thank you

    Getting similar error.
I tried/verified all the things I Can Google including running "Claims to Windows Token Service" with Local System Account, and other MSDN forum suggested configurations but of no help.
In my environment PowerPivot database is in different SQL Server than the SharePoint SQL Server.
I downloaded Adventure Works sample database and attached it to the SharePoint SQL server and PowerPivot Excel created using this database seems to refresh within SharePoint without any issues.
It appears that issue is with authentication delegation and may require Kerberos  configuration ( for database in different SQL servers). This is not my first preference.
I will continue to do research and update if I find any thing.

    Accepted Solution

    We do have Kerberos configured.

With the help of Microsoft and many hours later our Sharepoint admin team was able to fix this issue. They said that the Excel Services were not running on the PowerPivot server. Hope this helps to you, SharePointWarrior.
