sharepoint site on office 365

I am setting up a sharepoint site hosted on office 365 and want a pop-up dialog to come up on the first screen after users first login.

I have looked high and low, and am unable to find where / how to make this happen.   One source has informed me that I need to make sure the jQuery script library is attached to the master page... I can't figure out how to do this.

I understand that I need to set the master page to show in both form and dialog method;
I also understand I need to set the s4-notdlg class name to items not displayed in the dialog method;

I want to know
how can I make sure the jQuery Script Library is attached to the master page
how can I hide content on the Default view and show it in the dialog view
any other advice

If anyone can tell me what I am missing here, I would appreciate it...

The simplest way to check if the JQuery is attached is to check it using IE Developer toolbar/FireBug/Dev Tools - according to a browser you are using:
To enable the IE Developer Toolbar in IE 8/0 just press F12 on the page you want to check.

There you can check if you see the JQuery file attached in the Scripts tab.

The second issue: you will need to detect if the window is opened as a dialog. If so you should run the script and open the pop-up window.
Please take a look at this thread:

I hope it will help.
