Backup
I'm after a free backup solution for windows.
I just want to plug in a 1TB USB drive, set and forget. Some sort
of log letting me know if there is a fail is essential too.
I have a large PST file, I run outlook 99% of the pc's up-time.
I'm not a windows backup fan (backup product built in).
Something like Mac's Time Machine would be grand.

The VSS support (for backing up open files), the block-level backups support (copying only the parts of files that have changed, not the whole file), and email notificaiton (crashplan sends you weekly email notifications when backups succeed, and alerts when backups fail), make it ideal for you and your Outlook file.
You can backup to directly attached external hard disk, or to another computer running Crashplan, or to their online storage (for a monthly fee).
And for personal use, they have a reasonably full-featured free edition.

This product is as close to "set it and forget it" that I've ever found.
