Printing from Excel causing stop and crash

Good morning.

One of my users is experiencing an intermittent (probably once or twice per day) problem with Excel 2010 that is stumping me.

Excel will function as expected while working on data.  When she goes to print the workbooks by going through the menu (File - Print), all of the printers will be greyed out through Excel, but they are available to other programs.  If she cancels out of the print dialog box, Excel will then shut down with no warning.

The PC is running Windows 7 Pro (6.1.7600) with 6GB RAM.

    Accepted Solution

I would try uninstalling the printers (and drivers), restarting and re-installing the printers. Excel sometimes has issues if the printer drivers have issues.  .... Thinkpads_User

I wouldn't do that first, but rather just two things. First close and reopen all instances of Excel and if that doesn't work, reboot.

@MartinLiss - that was the first thing that I tried, and it does not fix the problem.

@Thinkpads - this did start happening after the installation of a new printer - but would this make all printers unresponsive to Excel?  I will try the driver re-install soon.

Also try first removing this new printer and then removing (uninstalling) its driver (Printer Server Properties) and see if that fixes the problem.
