How can I deactivate Firebug in Mozilla Firefox?

It opens at the bottom of all my browser windows, even though I click on SHIFT +F12 to deactivate it.  It has taken over my web browsing experience....I can see the usefulness of it, but don't wan't it popping up while I'm reading my e-mails. I have Windows 7.

Try "ctrl+shift+s", or check via the menu under "Web Developer".
