Sum of Group Formula

I have a formula at the "Description" group level "NewVaue".  I want to put the formual in a pivot table.  It sums all the record details which is not what I want it to do. I just want the sum for the totals for the group level the formula is in.  "Description".

Please help.  Thanks!

Group level formulas only work in the group.

WHere is the pivot table?

I have it at the report header.

There are no groups at that point.

Have you tried using a cross tab?

I have in a crosstab at report header level.  Because when you view the details I get two lines for each record it distorts the totals. I have played with joins and selected disctinct records option and can not cure the two lines for one record issue.  I have been rolling the data up to groups when needed.

Sorry early on I said Pivot I meant to say Crosstab.

Can you upload the report?

Of course the best solution would be if you could change the tables/joins and eliminate the duplicate records.  Failing that, do you get two records for _every_ detail, or just some of them?  Is it _always_ two records?

If you always get two of every record, that means that your summaries would be doubled, so one brute force approach (for Sum) would be to create a formula that divided a field in half and use that formula in your cross-tab.  FWIW, for a regular report summary (not in a cross-tab), you could do the same thing, or do a summary on the field and then create a formula that divided the summary in half and use that formula to display the summary on the report.
