sharepoint configuration unable to add trsuted domain users

remote users are visible in the people picker and can be selected
But when we try to add the trusted domain users share point gives an error

So you have a one-way trust environment?  Is that correct?

If so, did you configure PeoplePicker to view the other domain?

We have done this configuration before itself
We can see the remote domain users
But when we add the user it gives an error "No exact match was found. Click the items that did not resolve for more options"

So when you click the little address book next to the people picker, and you search for remote domain users, they are found?  But when you click OK, you then get the error message?

I assume this was working at some point?  If not, are you certain you ran the PeoplePicker command correctly?  Did you also set the apppassword as laid out here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262051%28v=office.12%29.aspx
