Migrate from RDS to XENAPP6.5 fp1

I have an rds 2008 server with 20 users. They uses roaming profiles and some gpo for folders redirection.

I am new on Citrix Xenapp. I have Installed one for tests and install all applications on it.
What is the better way to migrate the users on the xenapp server ?
I want to keep all profiles without reconfigure them is that possible ?

Thanks for your help !

If you have your applications installed in the same locations on your Xenapp farm, your current profiles should work without changing them.

Simple way to test: Copy a user profile to a new test user account, log on with the test account, and confirm all the applications you have installed work correctly.

Citrix XenApp 6.5 installs over Windows 2008 R2 OS.

So if your users are on roaming profiles with Windows 2008 profile V2 structure and folder redirection set then I guess you should not need to do any profile migrations for your users.

You can publish a couple of applications from your XenApp 6.5 and ask a couple of your users to use them in a testing phase to ensure that all their settings are preserved - which should be the case theoritically.

However, as you already have roaming profiles, it would be better to configure a GPO applied to your XenApp server (linked to the OU where your XenApp server resides) to delete profile caches when users log off. The reason is, obviously, to restore back some disk space rather than allow it to grow indefinitely.

Thanks  !! Works Good.
But I have another little question about citrix GPO. Actually I am using Gpo in Group policy objects from windows 2008 R2.
What is the better solution using the gpo inside Citrix or with  group policy objects from windows 2008 R2 ?

When you want to control sessions, connections, security and bandwidth Citrix policies, as per Citrix, are the most efficient way of configuring them.

However, please note that you will also need to configure certain GPOs on Windows to lock down/secure your servers depending on your security requirements.

In reality, you will need to use both. See this link for more info on Citrix policies, their application and precedence:

Thank you very much.
Last one, When I am logged on the RDS session, all network printers are redirected correctly.
local printers and network printers. (using easy print)

When I open the session on the xenapp server, only the local printer is redirected.
The gpo used is the same that applied to  the RDS server OU. I have copied it and modify some settings to apply it to XENAPP OU.

Thanks !!

Sorry the test is ok on windows but not on mac Os x. only the local printer is redirected.

Try to configure it from the Citrix policies. By default these policies are not enabled. See this link providing you all about configuring and managing printing in XenApp environments:

Specifically look at the "Configuring Printer AutoCreation Settings" sub-heading.
