How to add WordPress posts to the home page

Hi,

I'm working on my first WordPress site and haven't been able to find an easy solution or one that I can follow to understand what to do for my own site so hope you can help.

I have WordPress setup so that the main blog page goes to a static 'Home Page' within WordPress and I would like to know how I can add posts (in part) to the home page so that when someone clicks 'More' they are taken to the full post.

I would like to do this on the Home Page and also on at least 2 more static pages that I've setup in WordPress.

Any ideas?

At the bottom of this page is similar to what I'm looking to do.

The site you linked to is using three widgets in the footer and each widget is highlighting a single post.  The text comes from the post excerpt and the Read More link is generated automatically by the the_exceprt() function.

Does your theme have widgets available in the footer?

Hey Jason, no my theme isn't setup to have Widgets in the Footer, just side bar.

I wouldn't want the posts in the footer as they would be the same on each page, just particular posts on particular pages.

E.g. on the Services page, I would have Headlines for each of the main services with say the first two paragraphs that would then link to individual posts with all the info on the chosen service.

Okay then you should be looking at creating a Page of Posts. The Codex covers this:

Basically you create new page templates with a custom Loop that pulls in what you want.

Thank's, it's slightly more complicated than I was hoping for so I might leave it for now and just add text and links to the right posts.
