How to sync time to DC as time always out?

This is using MS Windows (either 2k3 or 2k8) AD domain. However, 2 of the domain servers always found out of time. System time on these 2 servers tend to drift by up to 10 minutes in a week's time. What is the root cause of this? and how to make the server sync the time as time accuracy is important for some of applcation?

Thanks in advance.

If your DC holds the PDC role if yes run below command from CMD (Run as administrator)

net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
net time /setsntp:
Net stop w32time & net start w32time
W32tm /config /manualpeerlist:pool.ntp.org /syncfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update
W32tm /resync /rediscover
net stop w32time & net start w32time

Run in non PDC DOmain COntrollers

net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
net time /setsntp:
Net stop w32time & net start w32time
w32tm /config /syncfromflags:domhier /update
W32tm /resync /rediscover
net stop w32time & net start w32time

Hi,  My guess it can be hardware related error. Although problably there is a more professional solution, but being lazy would I use "Net time \\known_accurate_server /set /y" in a scheduled task. Regards IWAGEN

If they are virtual servers, I would check if "sync time with host" in guest tools is unchecked.
And I would also re-register windows time service which mostly starts to work after that

In command-line on those DCs run
net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time

and check if it helped

Krzysztof

Here's the MS KB article on configuring an authoritative time server in your domain:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042

The DC holding the PDC Emulator FSMO role is the authoritative time server for the domain, so it should be configured to sync with an external source.  Everything else in the domain should be configured to use the domain hierarchy to get time.
