We have an exchange server 2007 running on SBS, the emails use a pop3 connector to download emails.

The POP3 connector stops retrieving emails  a number of times during the day and we end up having to retrieve the emails through the connector using the retrieve now button.

Is there a work around a a known issue arround the POP3 connector failing to retrieve
mail

Do you see anything in the log files that might give better details about why this is happening?

Once it stops retrieving emails, does it restart on its own?

I do not have any information in the logs about the POP3 connector. The Connector doe not automatically start  on it own we have to restart the connector service

It is very difficult to troubleshoot a service stopping with nothing more to go on.  Are you looking at the specific log for the POP3 connector (pop3service.log)?  There should be many entries there, regardless of whether or not there are errors.

We have resolved the issue but not sure if it will be a permanent fix. If we restart the information store, exchange transport and the pop3 connectort then retrivein the mails manually it works

Thanks for help
