installing a printer in windows 7 xp vitural mode
Running windows 7 in 32 and 64 bit with Windosw xp vitural mode. Having problems getting a windoows priinted driver to install in the xp mode. Example wit the hp printer driver I'm trying to install it needs 32 color and the xp vitural mode only supports 16 color.
Has anyone came up with a workaround for this problem.
Thanks

HI Davis,
That was great but it only increased the colors to 24 bit and I need 32 bit to install my printer as a minimun. This is the closest I have gotten so far. Any idea how I can get the colors to 32 bit?

Do it again; but, set it to Client Compatible which should let you do 32 bit.

Hi Davis,
I set it to Client Compatible the first time since I did not see 32 bit. Hoping that was the case.
I will go back and check it again.

HI Davis,
Went back and it was set for Client Compatible. Was reading the the help and MS says the highest for the color is 24 bit.

What model is the HP and what error do you get trying to install it?

I did some more research and we're both off base. XP Mode inherits the printer from the host O/S. HP says the drivers are built into 7 so all you should need to do is to plug the printer in (USB), let 7 install the drivers, and it should appear in the XP session. If it doesn't, there is an incompatability and we're scr*wed.
The only other possible issue is if you have it plugged into a USB3 port; XP mode doesn't support them.
