    Accepted Solution

"The Windows Update Service is not available" and all of the check boxes and
drop-down menus are greyed out. Automatic Update Service is missing from the
    services.msc list.
Can happen if the wuaueng.dll file is not registered.

    Register the file wuaueng.dll:
    Click Start, select Run
    Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
    Press OK.

I do have access to the server, I checked the logs on the workstation and I found the following:
    Aplication Log
    error source: Userenv
    event ID: 1085
    Warning source SceCli
    Event ID: 1202

I tried to register the wuaueng.dll, but got the following error message:
error on Dll register server in wuaueng.dll. return code: 0X80070005

Re-install the windows update agent. When installing, use the /wuforce switch. This will, in essence, perform a repair of the update agent and reset the security settings to the correct levels.

    Install using:

    WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe /wuforce
