unable to start service

Hello,

im having a problem starting the Automatic windows update service on Windows XP pro SP2,
the options to start, stop or restart the service are grayed out, and in the properties if I try to set it to start automatically it gives error 5 access denied when I click on apply. the computer is on a domain and this problems started happening in 4 of the domain computers at the same time. server is running WS 2008 R2.

drop-down menus are greyed out. Automatic Update Service is missing from the
services.msc list.
Can happen if the wuaueng.dll file is not registered.

Register the file wuaueng.dll:
Click Start, select Run
Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
Press OK.

- what is the account that you are using ? do you have admin access to this server ? please also check event logs for additional information.

I do have access to the server, I checked the logs on the workstation and I found the following:
Aplication Log
error source: Userenv
event ID: 1085
Warning source SceCli
Event ID: 1202

 I tried to register the wuaueng.dll, but got the following error message:
error on Dll register server in wuaueng.dll. return code: 0X80070005

Re-install the windows update agent. When installing, use the /wuforce switch. This will, in essence, perform a repair of the update agent and reset the security settings to the correct levels.
