I have one exchange 2003 server in my organization. &nbsp;I put in another server with 2008 OS and Exchange 2010. &nbsp;During the install of 2010 it asked about if I wanted to do mail flow install and had me locate the 2003 server. &nbsp;The install went fine and now it looks like everything has been migrated over to the 2010 server. &nbsp;Has anyone else done an install like this and if so, is there anything else I need to do before decommissioning the 2003 server? &nbsp;It seems everything is on the 2010 server but I am not sure where else to check to see if everything is routing through the 2010 and not 2003 server. &nbsp;I noticed there was a mail route setup on the 2003 server going from the 2003 server to the 2008.

Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).

Windows Server 2003

Within Internet message handling services (MHS), a message transfer agent or mail transfer agent (MTA) or mail relay is software that transfers electronic mail messages from one computer to another using a client–server application architecture. A MTA implements both the client (sending) and server (receiving) portions of the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). The terms mail server, mail exchanger, and MX host may also refer to a computer performing the MTA function. The Domain Name System (DNS) associates a mail server to a domain with mail exchanger (MX) resource records containing the domain name of a host providing MTA services.
