I have 2 issues my first is to get rid of that message every time I open up the file.  Please tell me how to do that.

The other issue is I have FM Pro 12 on trial and want to know if you can edit the questions in a new layout about is it columnar, where the subsummarys are, grouping and so on.  These can't be done in 8.5 so wanted to know if I buy 12 if they can.

Under File -> File Options, you will find a Startup Script that has been designated for your particular database file that is giving you the error. Once you determine the name of the script you need to then go to the Scripts menu, choose Scriptmaker, locate the Script that is running on startup and find/edit/remove the script step that will be listed as "unknown script", presumably because the script has been deleted but the reference to it is still in the startup script.

Regarding "can you edit the questions" in the layout setup, I don't think that is the case. When you create a new layout, FileMaker runs what you might call a "Layout Wizard" (to use other software's terminology), which walks you through a set of steps to create the layout including the options that you mention. As such it's really part of FM and not something an end user or even a developer would normally want to edit.

I'm not sure why you would want to edit this...the only reason I can think of is if you wanted to control how end users create layouts, but in general, end users shouldn't be creating new layouts often enough (or at all!) to warrant such control. You can easily compare the layout creation function between 8.5 and 12; I believe there are quite a few new options in 12 that are not present in 8.5 but I'm pretty sure changing the Layout Setup routine is not one of them.

The only reason to edit the layout  for me is that I modified an existing setup and my report isn't very pretty I believe because of the answers that were given for the original layout that I modified.  I was hoping I could just do an edit so I wouldn't have to create a new layout all over again.

Anyway, thanks for your help that fixed it up great!
