Viewing shares from \\servername from the same server asking for logins

When doing same from other servers I can see shares.  What could be the problem that I cannot access shares on the same server?

    Hmm can't find this in Win2008 R2 server.

    Not accessible for CNAME only.  IP or hostname or \\localhost works fine.
    Registry change required to change that.
