How to set Dell 1250c Color Laser to Toner Save Mode

We have a brand new Dell 1250c Color Laser hooked up to a Windows 7 64-bit laptop and we're trying to figure out how to set the printer to use toner save mode (draft mode). We've looked in the printer preferences and can't find anything. Tried installing from the software included with the printer as well as just letting Windows find the drivers. I have not been able to find anything on Dell's site either except steps on how to turn it off so we tried to reverse the process but the option is not there to select.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to the data sheet, the printer is supposed to support toner save, so you should be able to find it under printer Properties. Go to Start > Devices & Printers. Right-click the printer and select Printer Properties. Click the Advanced tab and then the Printing Defaults button. Try clicking all the tabs and buttons you see in there.

Suspect the drivers for 64-bit are missing the toner saving mode option in the Advanced tab.  This was also a problem with Mac users and still most features are unavailable with the Mac drivers.

Do you have a 32-bit XP system anywhere you can install the driver on to check the option appears?

There is a firmware update for the 1250c (MR3, A02) which is specifically for Vista/W7 users which may help in cojunction with the latest (June 2012) drivers but it's possible the driver just isn't written well and doesn't access the full features of the printer. It's not possible to access toner saving mode from a menu on the printer on this model.

Looks like Dell did not offer this option on the 64-bit driver. Thank you for the insight.
