access shared resourced EMB win7

I have embedded windows 7 , to access windows XP Shared resources,  if I go to start, run and type \\hostname\sharedname, it takes almost few minutes. to get authentication box to enter username /pwd. Any thoughts as why few minutes take to access the shared resources as for regular win 7 is instance.

Win 7 embedded is usually installed on thin clients. That being said it can be expected that a thin client is slow because these machines are not meant to be used like a regular PC.
