Change Outlook Display Name for Incoming Emails

We have a client who has requested that they be able to amend the display name of an incoming email, the current display name is an email address which is hard to remember so they wish to change this to an easy to remember relevant name.

I have added the email address to the contacts and added the required display name, however the emails do not relect this.

This is an exchange email account using Outlook 2010

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe that you CAN change the incoming email details since they are set at the senders end, and form part of the email headers.

By creating a contact, all you are doing is making it easier for you when you send outgoing emails to choose the contact based on the name that you have given.

Thanks roybridge, i did wonder if that might be the case. I dont suppose there's any work around?

No - since you don't have any way of editing the email headers. The only thing you COULD do to make it easier for you to know who these emails are from is to create an Outlook rule that will move them into a separate folder when they come in.

That figures, in the end i've told the client this is the way it is, and they could contact the sender to see if they'll update the display name.
