hdmi from computer to tv

when i connect hdmi cable from computer to tv , tv dispaly is coming and going (flashing) , and showing 720p 60 .  when display is there no sound on tv and when sound is there no display

    Could be a few things... first things that come to minde are:
    1st  make sure you have a good HDMI cable
    2nd check this out :
    3rd check/change the video resolution on your graphics card to match TV resolution capability...

    I don't know if everything is on when you are connecting, but I've found that if I boot my computer with the HDMI cable connected to the TV it seems to work better.

    That sounds like the connection is intermittent - try plugging and unplugging the cable a few times, to remove oxidation on the contacts.
