Send outgoing mail through Ironport - message queued for delivery

We have an Ironport C150 appliance. We are currently only using it to filter incoming mail but we would like to set it up for outgoing mail as well. We are using Exchange 2010 and I have setup a send connector to route mail through a smart host (IronPort). In Ironport I have added the mail server IP to the HAT Relay list. The mail is sent to the IronPort successfully and it completes an AV scan etc. but the mail sits in the queue with a status of "queued for delivery". What have I missed? Why isn't the mail being sent out?
