I have a 2010 word document that displays and prints as 2 pages in Word 2010 but in Word 2003 it displays and prints as 4 pages.

Steps already taken:
Same printer on both computers
Put Adobe PDF as the print driver
Used Compatibity pack and all updates for OS and Office
In 2010 saved as 2003 document.
Occurs on ALL computers with 2003 vs. 2010 Word.

It paginates to two pages on my Win7/64 partition, Word 2007 and on my Win7/32, Word 2003 systems - same printer, and (possibly) the same printer driver.

However, be aware that Word does not have an objective of paginating identically on all systems. Rather it introduces soft page breaks where necessary to prevent loss of text at the bottom of the page. There are many options to prevent these soft page breaks appearing in unwanted places (Widow control, Keep with next, Keep lines together, Allow row to break across pages).

Factors which might affect where line and page breaks occur include the printer driver and font file versions.

If you need the pagination to be completely predictable, the pages must be designed to fit in all environments. This requires that sufficient spare space be left on each page. The sample document only just fits on the page in both my environments.

Thanks!  The font version was the culprit.  Thank you so much for your help and suggestion.

Thank you Babs, but please take on board the fact that the font file was not a culprit. It was probably behaving correctly.

The problem was that your expectation that soft (calculated) line/page breaks are fixed is the source of the problem. It you require specific pagination, please allow sufficient room on the page to accommodate other environments. Otherwise this problem might come back to bite you in an unguarded anatomy location.
