SBS 2003 R2 - Internet Explorer Upgrade path

Hi all,

My SBS 2003 R2 server is running IE 6. Can an expert please tell me the correct upgrade path I must follow to be up to date with Internet Explorer? I do see an Server 2003 version of IE 8 on Microsoft's download site. Can I run this install and expect to upgrade to IE 8?

This sounds quite simple, but I have run into problems with upgrading the SBS 2003 server Internet Explorer 6 to IE 7 a while back.

Thank you in advance

    Accepted Solution

Yes, you can install Server 2003 IE8 on SBS and it will work.  This is the last version of IE that will run on Server 2003.

SBS 2003 is built on Server 2003 so you can run applications designed for Server 2003 without an issue.  The only difference with SBS is the 75 user limit and the amazing wizard based controls, and of course that Exchange, Sharepoint, etc... are bundled :)
