"The Database "|" can't be repaired or isn't a Microsoft Access database file.

I have recently migrated to Windows 7 and am having trouble when I try to open a database from an external hard drive (or a USB).  I receive a message saying,

"Microsoft Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state.......:"

When I click OK, I then get the message

"The Database "|" can't be repaired or isn't a Microsoft Access database file."

If I transfer the file via a network connection, everything is OK so it only seems to be an issue with the external storage.  (I have tried copying from the external hard drive to the local drive, but it still won't open once it has been ON the external drive.)

This same issue occurs when I am using a USB drive, and with several different databases, so I'm pretty sure that it is not a problem with the individual media or data I am using but rather with the process.

Any guidance you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Sounds like it's the drivers for the USB/External storage within Windows.

As far as JET is concerned, there's no difference between one drive and another.

Make sure your up to date on windows updates and then give it another go.

Also, how are you getting stuff onto the USB/External drives; with the same machine or another?

Jim.
