check out this lens.

I recommend it because 70-200 is a decent zoom range.  The lens having an aperture of 2.8 means you can get a lot of light in, which is important because you want to have a high shutter speed to freeze the action with sports shots.

Pair that with the 24-70 2.8 and you'll be set for most situations.

Great ! thanks

I  try to find it on line but couldn't , is it a new product ?
Any store you know that would sell this one ?

It is a new product.  I would check out Adorama, B&H Photo, and Abes of Maine.  They are pretty big online retailers and you should be able to pre-order from them if it isn't available yet.

I would hold out for the 2.8 aperture though.  The ability to get that extra light is worth its weight in gold when you need it.

Amazon is always a good bet too.  Looks like it was just announced and will start shipping sometime next month.

Hi thanks

looks like a fantastic lens
I'm a starter though and don't feel like spending that much yet on a lens

Anything I can look into to learn without fear to break the lens on the move , I would say In the $400/$500 range

Thanks

Normally the F4 lenses are a lot less money. Same range of zoom, just not as much ability for light

That's a good "walking around lens".  It gives you an incredible zoom range.

You can get your feet wet with this and once the addiction takes hold you can for the two 2.8 lenses I mentioned.  :)

Just be careful because with the variable aperture on this, when you're zoomed in your widest aperture is 5.8.  That will mean you may need to use a slower shutter speed, depening on the lighting of course, and in sports you don't want to use too slow a shutter speed because that will cause motion blur.  Motion blur is great when you want it, but crappy when you don't :)

That's great , thanks for all those additional tech advises I appreciate.
to add in my photographer bag

-Anything smaller in size with smaller/less  zoom options but still some ?

-And as a third part any wide angle for close shots you would recommend?

Thanks

this page shows all the lenses Panasonic makes for your camera:

Things to consider, the smaller the aperture number, the more light you can get in.

O.I.S. allows you to use a larger aperture number (less light) with a slower shutter speed while reducing or eliminating blur.
