SQL Encrypted Database

We need some third party software that can compress an encrypted SQL Database.

We are using SQL 2008 R2 but you can not use its built in compression on an encrypted database therefore we are in desperate need of a third party app that can facilitate this.

Any help will be appreciated.

You could use Robo-FTP to do it, a couple different ways actually.

Here is a sample script that creates and sends SQL transaction log backups (in order of oldest to newest if multiple files exist) over an SSL encrypted FTP session with inline compression: http://kb.robo-ftp.com/script_library/show/61

You could modify it to do zip with a password for simple encryption or you could make it do hardcore encryption with PGP.  The PGP has built-in compression but I suppose you could zip on top of that if you really wanted.

Here is a server-side script for Robo-FTP Server.  It can receive the backup file and restore it to an offsite copy of your database: http://kb.robo-ftp.com/script_library/show/60  Since all of your backups are actually being restored somewhere else you are also testing the backups themselves... to help prevent the situation where you go to restore something from backup and only then discover that your backup is no good.
