Hello Experts ,

I am working on one of out windows server 2003 . In the event log it is throwing an warning - Network adapter \DEVICE\{7994C58F-E1B9-4E5C-B885-BFD91E71D969} is de-activated and is no longer participating in network traffic.

What does this mean ? I see the server has 3 network adaptor.

Due to this we are getting the alerts from SNMP . Is there a way to resolve this ?

Thanks,

_Prashant_

Looks like you have configured NIC teaming on a server and this one card is out of teaming configuration, now.

Can you verify that, Prashant ?

Krzysztof,

You are right , NIC Teaming is configured and both the NIC's are loaded and up , see below screenshot.

NIC Teaming,

I think for some time frame the one of the NIC is getting deactivated and not participating in network traffic , what should be the cause for this behavior? Anitvirus (we are using McAfee)?

And to Identify the Network adaptor 7994C58F-E1B9-4E5C-B885-BFD91E71D969 ? IS it adaptor 1 or 2?

Thanks,

That might be related with NIC configuration. You need to check in BACS2 properties of that teaming and see if it is:

1) load balancing
2) fail over
3) NIC aggregation (or something like that, I cannot remember it at this moment)

so, that might be a clue. This NIC GUID you posted is only recognized by Microsoft and you can try to find which card it is:

1) by running ipconfig /all and search for GUID
or
2( check in registry for that GUID

Thanks ,

It is Smart load balacing on the NIC Teaming , But how can I determine what is causing the NIC to go disconnect from the participation?

I see the adaptor is going out of the network for few seconds and coming back in again. (As per event logs).

Thanks,

This might be related with networking issue. Maybe some drop packets on switch port ?
There is no clear information in Event log for that issue. Load balancing mean both cards are active and traffic goes over them.

Are you able to ask guys to troubleshoot that on switch side ? Give them MAC address of that NIC and ask to see any drops
