How to activate a console session remotely in 2008 R2

Can anyone help? I need to activate a console session from a remote location. In other words I would like to login the console that is logged out, so a person on site can use the server console without me having to divulge passwords to them. Can I shadow this session to monitor what is being done?

Why so few points awarded, out of interest?

But to answer your question - you can't. Even connecting to the console via an RDP client, the console on site will lock the screen.

You need a third party solution such as logmein or vnc

Or, alternatively, you could create a new admin account and only enable it when they need to do anything and disable it thereafter but bear in mind you cannot shadow/remote control a console session so they'd need to RDP into the server.

Thanks Tony
About the points - well I have no idea what to allow to be fair. I don't mean to be miserable but I don't know what the points are worth and can't seem to find this info anywhere. If someone would school me on this I will be more generous next time. In the meantime please accept my apologies.

With regard to your answer, thanks for your reply. I asked the question because I was on a customer's site a few years ago and somehow they were able to login the Administrator from a remote location. I then carried out my work and logged off. I have no idea how they did this and wondered if anyone new of this procedure

Phil

That's ok - I was only pointing it out because the averages tend to be 250 or 500 and there are some experts that won't entertain lower allocations. :-)

I suspect that they used a third party tool such as VNC or Logmein as the default behaviour since Win 2k has been to lock the console if you RDP using either the /console (as was), the /admin (as it is now) switches, or used the same credentials as were currently logged on.
