Searching in Outlook 2007

When I undertake a search in outlook, it returns some results but when I then scroll to the bottom of the results and select "Try searching again in All Mail Items", after 2 seconds it returns "No matches found for [search criteria]".  Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, so it doesnt make sense to me.  It's as if its not even bothering to search just immediately displays that message.

On a separate note, it sometimes changes the view of the window such that multiple emails from the same receipient is condensed and I need to expand the check box for every sender to see the emails.  What's that about?

Did you try upgrading the Outlook ?
Is the Outlook in cache mode ?

Thanks, that seems to be an improvement.  Do you know why/how exactly caching will make a difference?

Also on my Outlook 2007 at home as soon as I start typing in the outlook search box, it starts an instant search type mode.  On my office one I have to hit ENTER before it starts searching.  Any suggestions?
Do you know why/how exactly caching will make a difference? - When your Outlook is in cache mode it tries to use most of details in the OST with the Windows Search.

Is there any PST's added on the Work machine Outlook profile ?
Check if the Outlook is updated with all upgrades ?

I'll have to ask my IT dept to check for the latest update for Outlook.

1st comment - that's assuming that Windows search is installed on my local PC, which I dont believe it is, not the instant search one anyway.

2nd comment - No PSTs added.
Perfect let your IT admins have a look and spend some time ..
