Best way to setup wifi guest access for internet only

I have a Cisco AIR-AP1142N already setup and running.  The AP is configured for access to our network.  Often times, we have guests coming in and need only internet access.  Does these Cisco WAPs have like a somewhat built-in guest access?  What is the best way to to configure these WAPs if I just need to setup a guest solution for only internet access?  pls advise and thx.

    Accepted Solution

Mixing guest and internal access on the same hardware is never a good idea, as one small firmware bug can expose the network.  The simplest solution is to connect a separate WiFi network to the OUTSIDE of your firewall, which adds an extra layer of protection to your environment, whilst still providing guest access.  At most client sites that I've been two, the locations with guest access are limited to conference room areas as well, which prevents employees in the rest of the organization from using the open network for non-business purposes.  If you really wanted to, you could also place an internet security device (such as a NetGear STM) between the Wifi network and the outside world to provide both protection and filtering.
